- : 1. The modem sounding a faint beeeep as the backsound

- I have a boca 14.4 and PPI V.34 that do this. I have no idea what
- it is, but it seems to cause no problems.

- If I listen carefully enough to the boca, I can hear "waves
- lapping up on the beach" Maybe there's a seashell inside the
- modem :) Seems to cause no problem.
-
- : 3. I'm experiencing sudden disconnecting.
- : Usually after 15-25 minutes.
-
- You did better than me when I tried a USR 28800 VI. It locked
- up whenever I tried a file transfer. (Actually, 'it' was three
- different samples that I tried.) I'm happy with my older USR
- V.34 sportster, but judging by my experiences (and other reports
- I've read in this group) USR is experiencing quality control
- problems.
-
- And unfortunately, they are not able to support their products
- beyond the canned responses on their e-mail system.
-
- : Could anyone tell me
- : how to distinguish where the problems really accurs?
- : Is it in my modem, or in my PC or in the phone line
- : or maybe in the ISP?
-
- My solution was to switch to a PPI V.34 modem.
